The 6 Rangers players who may never kick a ball again for the club

The coronavirus-enforced shutdown has thrown several footballers' futures into doubt and Rangers are no different.

Like every club, there are loans set to expire and contracts running down to their conclusion, June 30 in the vast majority of cases.

UEFA have signalled they'd ideally prefer all domestic seasons to be completed by then but given the current global outlook, that seems wildly optimistic.

It means a number of players may have kicked their last ball for Rangers without even knowing it.

Here are the six who may not pull the jersey on again.

Ianis Hagi

(SNS Group)

The Romanian provided a spark on the European stage when he arrived on loan from Genk in January but his short-term deal will expire in the summer.

Rangers have an exclusive first option to buy but there have been whispers from Italy that Hagi would prefer to go elsewhere.

If that proves true, a 22 minute sub appearance against Bayer Leverkusen could prove to his last involvement at Ibrox.

Sheyi Ojo

(SNS Group)

A summer loan signing from Liverpool, Ojo has underwhelmed in Scotland.

The 22-year-old has fallen further out the picture as the season has progressed - he doesn't appear a natural fit for the dual number 10 system Rangers have employed for much of the season.

Ojo has been used mainly off the bench and a brief sub appearance in the Europa League last 16 second leg win over Braga looks increasingly likely to be his last.

Andy Halliday

(SNS Group)

The boyhood Rangers fan will have been increasingly resigned that this may be his last season, but to kick a last ball for his heroes without knowing it would be a tad cruel on Halliday.

The midfielder turned left-back is out of contract come the summer and a new contract looks unlikely at this stage.

He's been reduced to a bit-part role this season despite grafting his way into Steven Gerrard's plans last term and it's perhaps best for all parties to go their separate ways.

Wes Foderingham

(SNS Group)

Foderingham has fallen victim to the ageless Allan McGregor despite proving to be a capable number one before the veteran's return.

Opportunities have since been few and far between for the Englishman and there was slight surprise he did not leave last summer.

As such, Rangers are now set to miss out on getting a fee for the 29-year-old, whose last outing came in the Scottish Cup win over Stranraer in January.

Jon Flanagan

(Rangers/PA)

Another who has fallen further and further out of the picture as the season has progressed, largely due to the revitalised Borna Barisic.

With captain James Tavernier at right-back, opportunities on that flank were in especially short supply for the Scouser and he's this season been frozen out on the other side by the reborn Barisic.

Flanagan's contract expires at June's end and he'll almost certainly be let go, rendering a torrid 45 minutes against Hearts his final contribution.

Florian Kamberi

Florian Kamberi made a big impression on Sunday at St Johnstone and could replace Alfredo Morelos in Portugal. (SNS Group)

The shutdown could hardly have come at a worse time for the on-loan Hibs striker, who has barely disguised a desire to sign permanently.

It's arguable he was on his way to doing just that, impressing almost every time Gerrard called upon him, including a transformative impact against St Johnstone in the league and a tireless shift away at Braga.

Kamberi is, however, scheduled to return to Hibs in the summer and it's understood there's currently no deal in place for a full-time move. Whether that changes in the coming weeks and months remains to be seen.

If not, a sub appearance against Bayer Leverkusen could well be his last in Light Blue.
