The 6 areas of Nottinghamshire with highest rates of Covid-19

There are six areas in Nottinghamshire with coronavirus rates currently much higher than the national average.

Overall, many areas in the county still have rates above England's current rate of 57.9 cases per 100,000. Worst affected are the six areas where rates have gone above 200 cases per 100,000.

The figures come from the Government's latest coronavirus dashboard which is accurate for the 7 days to March 16.

East Bridgford and Aslockton has the highest rate at 363.0, followed closely by Newark South West at 359.6.

But there are also 28 neighbourhoods where the rate is currently "suppressed", which means there are fewer than three cases and the virus is virtually eradicated.

It comes as Public Health bosses confirmed in a briefing on Friday that rates were not decreasing as fast as they were two weeks ago.

Director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire, Jonathan Gribbin, has warned progress in the county could be undone if people begin relaxing their adherence to the rules and feeling they are safe.

He said: "I really want to take this opportunity to urge everyone in Nottinghamshire to keep in mind that neither the vaccine, nor a negative test result, are proper grounds for relaxing any of the measures that we all need to be keeping going with in these months."

The six areas with the highest rate of coronavirus are:

East Bridgford and Aslockton - 363.0

Newark South West - 359.6

Newark South East - 254.8

Kimberley South, Trowell and Awsworth - 213.3

Woodthorpe and Arno Vale - 209.0

North Sherwood - 206.4
