Who will be the next Arsenal manager?
Since the sacking of Emery almost a week ago, a number of names have been linked with the vacant post at the Emirates Stadium.
The list of names includes ex-Juventus boss Max Allegri, current Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, Manchester City assistant head coach Mikel Arteta and former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
In terms of the latter, the Manchester Evening News reported this week that he is open to the idea of managing the Gunners despite his ties to their bitter north London rivals.
Meanwhile, former Valencia boss Marcelino has reportedly been contacted by Arsenal Head of Football Raul Sanllehi in regards to replacing Emery.
But it would seemingly appear that Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to get the job after his impressive work with Leicester City.
However, the Foxes are determined to hold on to the Northern Irishman at all costs.
So much so that reports claim Rodgers will receive a huge pay rise in a bid to convince him to reject any approach from the Gunners should they make one in the coming weeks.
The report states that City will move to double his wages and bonuses so that he earns in the region of £10m per year.
This would be understandable given the brilliant work Rodgers has done so far this season.
With 15 games of the Premier League campaign gone, it's the Foxes who have emerged as the closest challengers to runaway leaders Liverpool as they trail the Reds by eight points.
Furthermore, they are three clear of defending champions Manchester City and welcome Jurgen Klopp's side to the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day.
Will Rodgers still be in the dugout for that top-of-the-table clash?
Well, all signs are pointing towards that being the case and Rodgers has even seemingly ruled out the prospect of leaving City mid-way through the season.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Leicester's 2-0 win over Watford, Rodgers repeated his desire to stay put despite the links to Arsenal.
"What I will say is that I have a contract here until 2022, the club haven’t indicated to me that they’re going to sack me," he said. "I’m very happy and I don’t need to look elsewhere.
"Why would I want to leave Leicester City at this moment in time? I’m working with a group of talented players."
