Located in the "Heart of Neolithic Orkney" Unesco World Heritage site, the Maeshowe Chambered Cairn is said to be the "finest" surviving Neolithic building in Northwest Europe.
The 5000-year-old "masterpiece" tomb, which would have been a "major challenge" to construct without metal tools or powered machinery, is said to show a "tremendous" commitment.
From the outside, the structure looks like a grassy mound, but to appreciate its size and significance, visitors must explore its depths.
