It's been a happy Thursday for Chelsea fans after the club confirmed that they had signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
The Blues have paid the £47.5million release clause from RB Leipzig and he will be a Chelsea player until 2025 in a big coup for the club.
Despite having already signed Hakim Ziyech, the Blues might not be done this summer and are looking at the impressive Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.
But what would happen if they sign Werner's fellow Germany international? football.london takes a look right here.
Havertz just behind Werner
One of the most popular line ups if the pair were to come to Chelsea would be Werner leading the line and Havertz tucked in behind him.
Havertz’s main position is to play in the number ten role and play an important supporting role to those ahead of him.
With Werner’s pace and goalscoring instincts, Havertz could find a nice place just behind the current RB Leipzig player and in the spaces to cause problems for defenders.
Havertz would also provide a big threat and has a natural talent to get into the box at the right time.
Havertz alongside Werner
Tammy Abraham would certainly have something to say about this, but Havertz next to Werner up top would be a dangerous combination.
With a combined goal tally of 38 Bundesliga strikes so far this season, the pair obviously have an eye for goal.
Playing with both up top would obviously mean that Lampard’s formation would slightly change, as it’s rare for him to have two up top.
If the Blues were to play three at the back, then a 3-5-2 formation could work to fit both of them in next season.
Werner and Havertz behind Abraham
One formation that Lampard has started to use over the season is a 4-3-2-1, meaning the two players behind the forward tuck in tighter and play off the striker.
It could be a way that Werner and Havertz can fit into the side as well, although there will be a lot of competition for places in that area.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic will be fighting for a spot, while Hakim Ziyech will also be expected to play just behind the striker.
It would give Lampard a massive amount of choice, however keeping everyone happy would be difficult.
Werner and Havertz out wide
This position wouldn’t likely get the best out of Havertz, but Werner would certainly excel out wide if needed with his pace and skill.
The Blues have a lot of options in the wide areas, even if Willian and Pedro do head away from the Blues with their contracts expiring.
Ziyech will be joining, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also play in the wide areas if Lampard needs to use him.
The role wouldn’t likely get the best out of Havertz, who would work better in a more central position.
Werner just behind Havertz
Another way that Lampard could line up the deadly duo is Werner just behind Havertz.
Havertz has a bit more height to him than Werner, the current Bayer Leverkusen star could be used as more of a target man for Werner to play off.
The 20-year-old has an excellent aerial game and that could be useful to the Blues, who are looking for another left-back and also the crossing ability of Reece James.
