The 5 undroppable Chelsea stars Frank Lampard must trust to secure Premier League top four spot

After the defeat to Manchester United on Monday night, Chelsea are really in a fight for the Champions League places.

The Blues host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and a defeat in that match would see them slip out of the top four Premier League spots.

Chelsea have held firm in much of the campaign to hold on to the places, however the gap has been closed dramatically and there are issues for Frank Lampard to sort out.

Lampard has shifted around his team on several occasions this season to try to find the right combinations.

However, who are the undroppable players who Lampard must trust to get his team over the line come May?

Reece James

The 20-year-old has been a revelation this season after coming back from his long-term injury that he suffered at the end of the previous campiagn.

James gives the Blues so much width and danger from the right-back position, while his defending has also been pretty secure for many of the matches that he has played.

Mistakes might come from the youngster as the season goes on, but he really gives Chelsea an extra option and he needs to be keeping his place for the run-in.

Cesar Azpilicueta

The Blues captain has been shifted over to left-back after the emergence of James in the Spaniard's more natural position.

While it is frustrating at times not having a natural left footer down the left-hand side, Azpilicueta has been giving his all for the Blues once again.

The Blues need all their leaders to really rally the troops for the end of the season, and Azpilicueta is crucial to that.

Mateo Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic has been a bit in and out of the side in recent weeks, however his performance against Manchester United on Monday showed that he is vital to the Blues.

He can make the midfield tick and add that extra bit of driving force in the heart of the pitch, something that Jorginho maybe doesn't offer to the Blues.

The Croatian is going to be a vital player in the next few months to try to secure one of those Champions League places at the end of the campaign.

N'Golo Kante

In any team, N'Golo Kante is undroppable. However, unfortunately this season Kante has been off the pitch almost as much as he has been on it due to injury.

The World Cup winner is set for another couple of weeks on the sidelines due to an adductor problem, which comes as another big blow to Lampard.

However, whenever he is back fit again then Kante is going to be a huge player for the final push.

Tammy Abraham

Monday night showed that Frank Lampard cannot really trust Michy Batshuayi in leading the line throughout the campaign and to finish in those top four spots.

Olivier Giroud appears to be the better option, however his all-round game is not suited to the style that Lampard is after from his front man, with a high press.

With 13 Premier League goals so far, Lampard needs Tammy Abraham back fit and raring to go to try to finish the chances that the Blues are creating.
