The 5 players who Chelsea will try to pin down to new long-term contracts

Chelsea have handed out several new contracts this season already and the Blues could be ready to give more during the rest of the campaign.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi were all tied down to new long-term deals to commit their future in west London.

It is part of the new regime at the club, in order to tie down the youth players who have been performing to a high level or are to be the future of the club for years to come.

So who would be the next to be given a long-term contract? football.london takes a look right here.

Tammy Abraham

The striker has proved that he can make it work in the Premier League after a decent start to the campaign, and with a contract until 2022, now is time to renew it.

The 22-year-old is Chelsea through and through, so giving him a new contract is not going to be a difficult one as long as both parties are on the same wavelength.

Chelsea are believed to be close to giving Abraham a new deal and tie him down to a new long-term deal.

Fikayo Tomori

Another player who is impressing this season, despite making the odd few mistakes over the course of the last few weeks.

At just 21 and his contract running out at the end of next season, Frank Lampard is one who will be keen to make sure Tomori gets a new deal.

He can certainly play at the Premier League level, and Chelsea are eyeing up a new deal for him.

Reece James

It's a shame that James picked up the injury in the summer, after such an impressive spell on loan with Wigan Athletic in the Championship last year.

The 19-year-old is another player whose contract is up in 2022, but the Blues are planning on tying him down to a long-term contract as well.

James is seen very much as a key player for the future, and can still play a big part having made his Champions League and Premier League debuts already.

Willian

A player who still polarises opinions among Chelsea supporters, but a player who is constantly appreciated by Blues bosses through the years.

Lampard has constantly praised the Brazilian, and the Blues boss has also stated that he wants the winger to be a new deal, with his contract at the end of the season.

However, the debate with Willian and the club is whether they can settle on a one-year deal or two, which is what the latter would prefer.

Andreas Christensen

The 23-year-old has been a bit in and out of the side this season, however is still seen by the Blues as one for the future, having also impressed in the academy.

For the Danish international, it will be about trying to get consistency in his game and become a regular in the first team once more.

His contract also runs out in 2022
