The city centre has some seriously talented stylists in award-winning salons. We are spoilt for choice with some salons maintaining a steady 4.5-star rating on Google along with hundreds of reviews from happy customers.

Toni and Guy

4 Cheapside, Nottingham, NG1 2HUR. Toni and Guy, Nottingham, has racked up 167 reviews on Google and averages out at 4.5 stars. Toni and Guy are possibly one of the most recognisable hair salons in Nottingham.

The brand has 200 branches across the UK with their Nottingham salon located on Cheapside, which has been open for 27 years. The talented stylists at Toni and Guy offer a range of different services from cuts and colours to bridal and hair extensions. Some of their stylists also take part in international competitions and London Fashion Week.

One of their most popular options is Balayage which is a colour trend that adds lighter colours to the hair. Clients have been delighted with the expert advice, attentive staff and also said they felt safe thanks to the salon Covid policies.

When it comes to prices, customers can expect to pay between £30 to £50 for a cut and blow-dry while a blow-dry starts at £25. Prices do vary depending on the experience level of the hairdresser and the length of your hair.

The award-winning salon offers a range of styles to suit everyone including the more creative looks or a classic cut and colour. Prices start at £31 for a short-length blow dry.

The brand celebrates the creativity of its staff with annual hair awards that recognise the achievement of its team members from trainees to senior stylists. Should you feel extra brave, the salon also offers Brazilian waxing options, too.

One customer wrote: "Best in Nottingham. Very professional Salon. After reading the fantastic reviews I can see why they are so popular in the area. Will be returning. Great to have such a great business in my home town."

Another agreed: "What an immaculate, well-presented, extremely well run salon. I would personally like to thank all of the members of the salon for making my first time visiting so wonderful. My hair feels great! My self-confidence is back."

20 Long Row, NG2 2DH. Rush has 338 reviews on Google and 4.4 stars. Rush hair salon is another city centre favourite offering cuts, colours and blow dries. Customers have reported feeling delighted with the professionalism and expert advice shown by the staff.

The first Rush salon opened in 1994 and there are now over 60 around the UK. One customer wrote: "I had my hair done at a different salon in Nottingham and they absolutely ruined my hair and I was devastated so I called Rush the day after to see if they could help.

"They fitted me in that morning and Emily did an amazing job at fixing my hair. She was so reassuring that she would get my hair fixed and I’m so pleased with the result. Highly recommend this place."

Customers can expect to pay from £30 for a blow-dry but cut and colour options start at £45 for men and women. It's not just about the hair though as the salon has now branched out into beauty offering treatments such as facials or lash tinting.

One client wrote: "I've been visiting this salon for 20 years and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, really helpful and lovely. Very quickly, you feel like one of the family. I've missed them all very much during the lockdown."

Another reviewer agreed: "It is an excellent hairdressers with full Covid restrictions being adhered to. You feel welcome as soon as you step through the door. The reception always greets you with a smile and all the Topknot staff make you feel very special.

"It is a wonderful place to escape for an hour or so in these troubled times and you come out feeling so much better than when you went in. You also look good too."

The prices at Topknot Hair are another reason why customers keep returning as a simple shampoo and set starts at £22. When it comes to cuts, prices start at £32 and colours at £40 depending on what you need. As well as hair, the salon has moved into beauty to offer clients a range of treatments such as lash tinting, facials and spray tans.

The salon has grown a loyal fan base in the city with many repeat customers who wouldn't dream of going to another salon. Customers say that the staff at the salon really listen to what they want from their visit and they come out with an amazing new look.

One person wrote: "Absolutely love coming here, such a great atmosphere and excellent skills! These guys were recommended to me by my friend when I first moved to Notts and I won't go anywhere else.

"Fully trust my stylist Joe to do what's best for my hair and what suits my face shape/clothing style. They're also doing my bridal hair, plus my bridesmaids next year and I cannot wait. Keep doing what you're doing team, you guys rock."

Prices vary depending on which stylist, level of experience and also what service customers need. To book in with the salon owner Lee, ladies can expect to pay £50 for a cut and finish or £28 for a shampoo and blow-dry.
