The confirmed Celtic transfer which hands Arsenal and Unai Emery a massive boost

Celtic have completed the signing of Rapid Vienna left back Boli Mbombo.

And this is great news for Arsenal.

The Scottish Premier League champions confirmed late on Wednesday that the defender has signed a four-year deal with the club.

Mbombo, who joined Rapid Vienna from Club Brugge in 2017, was said to be attracting interest from Huddersfield Town and Burnley therefore the Bhoys have moved fast to get a deal wrapped up.

The Gunners and Unai Emery will have been pulling for Celtic to sign Mbombo as it's a massive boost in their attempts to lure Kieran Tierney away from Parkhead this summer.

It has been reported this week that the north London outfit have already had two bids for the Scotland international rejected but are expected to reach an agreement - in the region of £20m-£25m - in the coming days.

Mbombo could bee seen as Tierney's direct replacement, thus ramping up speculation that a move to Arsenal is imminent.

At just 22 years of age Tierney has already made over 150 appearances for the Hoops and Lennon insists that experience will place him in good stead should he move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

"For someone so young, Kieran already has vast experience – he’s played Champions League, Europa League, internationals and he’s won trophies," he said.

"I don’t think he would fear going anywhere, but it would be a wrench for him because the club means so much to him.

"We’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it but we don’t want to lose him."
