The New England Patriots 2020 schedule is out. Let’s just say it is not an easy one. The Patriots have the hardest schedule in all of football, and it will certainly test a young offense led by a new quarterback.
With the season beginning in Miami and ending in Seattle, it seems like the doing the Patriots will travel to just about every stop in the country. The first four weeks of the season will be tests in of themselves. With Seattle and Kansas City on the road, this will give New England something to measure their progress by.
Ahead of an action-packed schedule, let’s take a look at three games I am most excited for.
Week 1: vs. Miami Dolphins
The opener against the Miami Dolphins is one game I certainly am excited for. For starters, the entire Dolphins organization underwent an overhaul in the offseason. These Miami Dolphins are certainly formidable opponents, and they are working hard to establish an identity.
With Tua Tagovailoa now a member of the Miami Dolphins, the team has a new face of the franchise. Led by old friend Brian Flores, Miami looks to continue building off of what was a modestly successful season against the Patriots,
When you factor in that Elandon Roberts and Kyle Van Noy will be coming into town as well, this certainly is a reunion of familiar faces. With Miami defeating New England in Foxboro last season by a 27-24 margin last year, New England will certainly look to get a win back. Last season’s victory ultimately gave New England a harder road in the playoffs, and it gave Miami something to build off of for 2020.
Now, both teams look to start new era as another chapter in this divisional rivalry will be written. Besides the fact that this is the opening game of the season, all of these mini-storylines are reasons to be excited about the opener.
Week 4: @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are always a tough opponent. The Kansas City Chiefs on the road are even tougher. Combine that with the fact that they are defending Super Bowl Champions, this is not going to be an easy game for New England. Nevertheless, it should be a fun one.
The last time these two teams met, the New England Patriots lost at home. This of course was the game where N’Keal Harry was the victim of a missed touchdown call that would have put New England ahead. It was yet another great game in what is becoming an exciting history between the Patriots and the Chiefs.
This will be a great test for a young Patriots team offensively. Whether it be Stidham or Hoyer, the quarterback is going to be challenged under center. I’ll be interested to see how the quarterback handles the crowd noise and how the defense matches up with the Chiefs offense, led by superstar Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback always seems to keep New England on their toes.
Week 10: vs. Baltimore Ravens
Even diehard Patriots fans can’t deny the fact that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is fun to watch. The Patriots meet Jackson and the Ravens on November 15 in what is going to be a prime time game, set for 8:20 pm.
The Ravens sliced and diced the New England defense in their only meeting last season. The Ravens bested New England by a 37-20 margin. Baltimore scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.
It will be fun to see New England match up with Jackson in addition to a talented Baltimore Ravens backfield. Baltimore has added rookie JK Dobbins to the fold at running back. Combine that with Marquise Brown in the receiving game, and the Ravens have formidable weapons to go deep into the postseason once again. With these two teams meeting up in the middle of November, this game may help determine playoff seeding for the future.
