Alonso, Hazard and Higuain - Latest Chelsea team news and expected XI vs Watford

Chelsea welcome Watford to Stamford Bridge just three days after their 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

The Blues are on course to seal a return to the Champions League, and will do so via the the Premier League should they win their final two league matches, something that would see them finish third in the table.

However, every time that the Blues have been given a good opportunity to put down a statement in this bizarre top four battle, they have somehow found a way to mess up and facing the Hornets as well as Leicester City will not be easy.

With a short turnaround from the match with Frankfurt, Maurizio Sarri will likely make some changes and these are the ones that he is expected to make.

Marcos Alonso for Emerson

Emerson has been in and out of the side and it is likely that the Italy international is going to be on the bench once again for the match with the Hornets.

Marcos Alonso came in for the 1-1 draw at Manchester United and scored the crucial goal for the Blues, after getting into a decent position to pounce on David De Gea's mistake.

Alonso has had a dip in form this season, but Sarri will be looking to him to get back to a top level and hoping that the goal at Old Trafford will facilitate that.

Eden Hazard for Willian

It was a surprise to see Eden Hazard on the bench for the Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday night, but there is no doubt he is going to be back in for the Watford game.

The Blues are going to need him to be at the very top of his game, but the question will be whether he comes in for Willian or Pedro.

Willian took a knock against Manchester United and was struggling a bit when he came off against Eintracht. Meanwhile, Pedro netted an important goal in the game and could get his chance again at Stamford Bridge.

Gonzalo Higuain for Olivier Giroud

Sarri is ready to give Gonzalo Higuain as many chances as possible during his short loan spell with the Blues, even though it hasn't gone exactly to plan.

He has scored twice against Huddersfield, once at Fulham and once against Burnley, however he was awful against Manchester United and was offside on numerous occasions.

However, it's likely that Sarri will keep Higuain as the number nine in the league matches for the rest of the campaign.

Expected Chelsea XI: Kepa, Alonso, Christensen, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kante, Loftus-Cheek, Hazard, Pedro, Higuain.
