The 3-bed semi-detached house with probably the best sea views in Rhossili

Thousands of people in Wales can say they live in a three-bed semi-detached property.

Often a family home, it's such a classic design and examples can be found from almost any era.

The floorplan of a period semi before any modern makeover, renovation or additions is usually with the standard two reception rooms and kitchen on the ground floor and a bathroom and three bedrooms on the first floor, including a 'box' third bedroom in smaller examples.

But very few are lucky enough to say they live in a three-bed semi that overlooks one of the most glorious and popular coastlines in Wales.

This period three-bed semi has space and the chance to do a modern makeover inside to match a new owner's personal style, but before you get excited looking for your toolbelt and scouring Pinterest for interior design inspiration it's the location that should get you light-headed with over-excitement.

If you drive down the country lanes through this southern slice of Gower peninsula at night and with no regular streetlamps to see the location, and pull up outside this standard semi, the home's name should give you the biggest hint of the biggest draw to this house - Seaview.

Come the morning and the uninterrupted sea view will greet you with all its glory and probably leave you speechless.

The clue why this house is so special is in the name (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

From the fields of horses and wildlife to the cliff edge, nature's green carpet rolls down to the jewel-coloured beauty of the ocean - all from the front garden and windows of this standard semi.

On a clear day even the famous tip of Rhossili's Worm's Head coastline can be seen and admired, and the sweeping sands of Rhossili Bay itself is just a stroll down the road.

If location is the key to finding a dream home, this one is so superb it might knock you out completely.

From the well-placed bench by the front door, sit and watch the ships bob past, the birds glide on the sea breezes and the sun glisten on the deep blue water. Most people would be happy to live on that bench, in the summertime at least.

If you can drag your eyes away from the mesmerising coastal spectacle in front of you, there's a semi-detached house to explore.

Tidy inside but a new owner may want to update the interiors starting with the lounge with the sea view (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

Bathroom on the ground floor (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

Inside the layout is mainly typical of a traditional semi, although the bathroom is on the ground floor to allow the first floor to have three good-sized bedrooms.

The interiors will probably want to be updated by a new owner but the house as it is, is a good example of a period property that has been well-loved through the decades.

The porch takes you straight into the lounge at the front and a door to the stairs to the upper floor in the corner.

Of course, you are immediately drawn to the rural vistas with the sea sparkling on the horizon from the front window and a new owner may be tempted to trim the front garden hedge to allow the whole of the view to fill the whole of the window.

A quick scan of the space reveals a generous reception room that can easily welcome a family sitting around the 1930s fireplace on a winter's evening.

Through to a dining room in the middle of this ground floor but lit by a handy side window to ensure this central zone is as bright and sunny as the other rooms.

Large kitchen has plenty of storage (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)
Room for a breakfast table too (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

Into the kitchen that can welcome oodles of storage via its u-shaped design plus a breakfast table that gives a second and maybe more sociable option to eat as a family than the more formal dining space next door.

Off the kitchen is a large storage cupboard very handy for containing all the outdoor gear most owners in this location would want and need to fully embrace the coastal lifestyle.

Then into the family bathroom at the very end of the house before wandering back through the ground floor to the stairs and the three double bedrooms upstairs.

Alterations you could make, subject to planning consent, could include, of course, a new rear extension with a wall of bi-fold doors out onto the garden.

Maybe a side extension too, increasing the internal space on two floors with another bedroom and bathroom upstairs and maybe an office or garage downstairs - the garden is certainly big enough to take it.

Good size garden means potential to expand to the back and to the side, if planning allows (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)
Large garden means lots of potential to add space or just enjoy the oodles of outside space on offer (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

But there are other less expensive alterations to the existing home that could put the added sprinkles and flake to the top of this seaside ice cream property, again subject to planning and building regulations.

In the lounge a log burner fitted on the wall that runs along the side of the house would create a welcoming feature, as well as replacing the window with French doors straight out onto the front garden terrace and those views.

As the majority of the coastal view action happens at the front of the house and the bedroom design can't accommodate a full Juliet balcony, but what about, if allowed, a cute external balcony on stilts, so the elevated position offers up elevated views of the sea and rugged Gower coastline?

This would need some thought and an architect but what a stunning addition to add outdoor options to immerse yourself in those stunning views from this semi.

Is it greedy to have amazing views of coast or country from every window? (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

Downstairs at least one wall is desperate to be demolished to create a more open-plan living space but, of course, only after an expert is involved to check you're not knocking down a wall that could bring the house down with it.

Upstairs, squeezing in a small shower room, or toilet with basin at least, would be a good idea as it's a very long walk in the middle of the night from bed to bathroom on the ground floor.

Maybe steal some space from the master at the front and bedroom two at the back and put a shower room or WC here, as this location would also give access to an external wall for a window or at least some form of ventilation.

Not many urban three-bed semis can boast a garden that dwarfs the house with its size but again this property by the sea can deliver.

It's wide, it's long, it's pretty, it's mature and it has beautiful sweeping countryside views.

The stunning rural vistas at the rear are not to be ignored (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)
Mature, well-loved garden is a haven for humans as well as wildlife (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)
End of the garden might mean opportunity for a sun terrace and summerhouse to access all the coast and country views from an elevated position (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

As the garden is on a slight incline, maybe the addition of an elevated summerhouse and terrace at the very end of the garden might create the perfect spot to enjoy being surrounded by both coast and country views.

The semi can be found on the road between the villages of Middleton and Rhossili and the views directly in front of the house include Mewslade Bay and Fall Bay that includes the intriguing Giant's Cave, but crane your neck and Worm's Head peninsula peeps up on the horizon too.

The house is definitely a rarity, for potential to expand and improve as well as for its location, so much so it sounds like the estate agent is desperate to move in and fully enjoy the home's unique position too.

They say: "The breathtaking views, the long sandy beach of Llangennith, Worms Head, the historical wreck of Helvetia visible at low tide and the towering cliffs, all make it a popular destination throughout the year with surfers, paragliders and ramblers. However, Rhossili still manages to maintain its tranquillity and unspoilt beauty."

Country views from the back (Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea / Zoopla)

Sounds like the perfect place within an area of outstanding natural beauty to find a standard semi that is anything but standard, with the most outstanding of views front and back that make this property a chance for that dream move to the coast.

The semi is for sale for £350,000 with Dawsons and Fine & Country Swansea, call either on 01792 646060 or 01792 367301 to find out more.
