The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday. In years past, that’s been little more than a footnote on the league calendar. Lately, however, the league has been the backdrop for slight bouts of action.
Last season saw a handful of trades, all of which sent draft considerations one way or another and many of which shipped lunchpail inside linebackers or special teams contributors to new homes. While a Kiko Alonso-Kwon Alexander deal won’t quite rival the excitement of the NBA’s deadline deals, it suggests general managers and team owners are willing to take a few more risks than in the past — especially with an expanded 14-team playoff field in place.
We’ve already seen one superstar get dealt when Von Miller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams for second- and third-round picks Monday afternoon. There are several other veterans, some productive and some in dire need of a change of scenery, who may wind up cleaning out their lockers by Tuesday evening. Here are the players who fit that bill.
