There are 270,000 reasons why Arsenal are not likely to sign Diego Costa this month.
The former Chelsea striker is a free agent and searching for a club this month after mutually agreeing to end his contract with Atletico Madrid after around 18 months back at the club.
Costa scored 12 goals in 61 league games during his second spell with Atleti and now 32, he had struggled for game time this season with Diego Simeone's men top of La Liga and looking like nailed-on favourites to win the title.
But as far as Costa is concerned, it's now about where he goes next and the Premier League has been mooted as a possible destination with both Arsenal and Wolves linked.
The reality, however, is that it's likely to be neither of those clubs due to the salary Costa is demanding with reports from the Mirror suggesting the veteran striker wants similar wages to what he earned at Atletico.
The Spanish international reportedly earned a whopping £270,000-per-week with Los Rojiblancos before that contract was torn up recently.
And that likely puts both Arsenal and Wolves out of the equation. The Gunners are only now coming towards the end of Mesut Ozil's £350,000-per-week contract, counting down the days until their wage bill receives a significant decrease.
So, it's incredibly unlikely they would go and spend the vast majority of that money on another huge earner who is far from guaranteed to be a hit at the age of 32.
Costa is still a top player, of course, having enjoyed an excellent first spell at Atletico, scoring 43 goals in just 94 league games before bettering that strike rate with 52 goals in 89 league games for Chelsea following his £32million move.
But after returning to Atletico, he failed to replicate that form and now finds himself looking for another opportunity as he enters the late stages of his career.
