The £251m Antonio Conte spend that will excite Tottenham fans as Spurs chase six Serie A stars

Antonio Conte is one of the biggest names in the football management world, so it cannot come as a surprise when the Italian coach demands big money from any club he moves to.

football.london understands that Tottenham and Conte are in advanced talks over the Italian becoming Nuno Espirito Santo's replacement in north London.

Conte has been without a job in football since leaving Inter Milan over the summer after guiding the San Siro-based outfit to their first Serie A title in over a decade.

Daniel Levy is determined to seal the deal for the 52-year-old, who was his first-choice target before Nuno was appointed over the summer.

But, if Conte is appointed, then Levy is likely to have to back his new manager in the transfer market, with a mind-blowing statistic emerging.

At Conte's last two clubs, Chelsea (2016 to 2018) and Inter Milan (2019 to 2021), the coach has spent a combined total of £251 million in his first summer transfer windows in charge.

With the Blues, Conte brought in Michy Batshuayi (£35m), N'Golo Kante (£32m), David Luiz (£31m) and Marcos Alonso (£20m), which accumulates to £118m, while at Inter, the Italian signed Romelu Lukaku (£66m), Valentino Lazaro (£20m), Matteo Politano (£19m), Ionut Radu (£9.5m), Eddie Salcedo (£9m), Gabriel Brazao (£5.4m) and Lucien Agoume (£4m), which adds up to around £133m.

Put those two figures together and you have £251m - in just two transfer windows. Conte undoubtedly needs the money to get the players that fit his ideology and if he can generate those sort of funds under Levy, then Tottenham supporters may be in for a very exciting couple of transfer windows.

Should he be appointed, then Conte's first transfer window will be in January, but as we know, the winter period is usually much quieter in terms of business than what it is over the summer.

However, according to Sport Mediaset, via the Mirror, Conte has already identified six new players he wants to bring with him from the Serie A to the Premier League.

Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina, Marcelo Brozovic of Inter Milan, AC Milan's Franck Kessie, Lazio star Manuel Lazzari and Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa have reportedly all been identified as targets by Conte.

It is also said that Conte is keen on signing a new central defender, with Matthijs de Ligt, Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan De Vrij, the names being mentioned in the report.
