The 25-man Leeds United squad that Marcelo Bielsa could be left with in pre-season

It could be some months before the 2019-20 season is finally brought to a close.

The coronavirus outbreak has, of course, led to a suspension of all elite level matches in this country and abroad.

For Leeds United, the stoppage hit them hard as it put the buffers on their bid for automatic promotion and a quest to reach the Premier League.

Should the Whites get the chance to finish the job they started then their squad could look very different to how it does presently.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have five players on loan for a start, although Helder Costa has already agreed to make his move from Wolves permanent this summer.

The other four, Illan Meslier, Ben White, Jack Harrison and Jean-Kevin Augustin, are expected to return to their parent clubs whenever the season finishes.

However, it is understood that agreements are in place for the Whites to turn Meslier and Augustin into permanent signings, if they so wish, for set fees.

As for Harrison, Leeds would be in a strong financial position to sign him on permanent terms from Manchester City if they achieve promotion.

Other players that are likely to depart the club are long-serving Gaetano Berardi and back-up goalkeeper Will Huffer.

The pair are both out of contract at the end of this term, along with youngsters Oliver Casey and Kamil Miazek.

Those eight departures, on the face of it, could leave Bielsa' squad looking thin - at least initially.

However, the club will be welcoming back a number of players who have been out on loan this season.

Conor Shaughnessy is on loan at League One Burton whilst Jay-Roy Grot and Laurens de Bock are set to return from Dutch loan stints at Vitesse Arnhem and ADO Den Haag respectively.

With all that in mind, here is the 25-man squad that Bielsa could be left with at the end of this season.

Goalkeepers : Kiko Casilla, Elia Caprile

Defenders : Luke Ayling, Barry Douglas, Liam Cooper, Leif Davis, Pascal Struijk, Conor Shaughnessy, Laurens de Bock

Midfielders : Helder Costa, Adam Forshaw, Ian Poveda, Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas, Pablo Hernandez, Kalvin Phillips, Robbie Gotts, Alfie McCalmont, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton, Jordan Stevens, Ouasim Bouy

Strikers : Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts, Jay-Roy Grot
