The 18 holiday destinations you don't need to quarantine either there or on return

Brits going abroad this summer have been warned to check the latest travel restrictions.

It comes as the number of destinations on the 'safe' travel list continues to reduce, as many countries record a surge in coronavirus cases.

Croatia, Austria and Trinidad & Tobago have been removed from the exempt list, meaning people arriving in the UK after 4am on Saturday must self-isolate for two weeks.

It follows popular holiday spots Spain and France also being stripped from the list.

Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos and Aruba, Andorra, Belgium and the Bahamas, Serbia and Luxembourg have also been removed.

But Portugal has now been added to the 'safe' list, meaning holidaymakers can now travel there without restrictions.

The government has issued a list of nearly 70 countries where Brits do not have to quarantine on return.

But some countries on the exempt list - such as New Zealand - are not currently accepting British tourists.

Meanwhile, others have strict requirements - including health certificates or mandatory quarantine.

Here's the latest information on countries UK holidaymakers can travel to without having to quarantine or undergo a test to prove they are Covid-free.

This list will be subject to chance as more countries are added or removed.

Many holidaymakers still have to self-isolate on return for 14 days - in a blow for many hoping to go abroad this summer.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has warned holidaymakers of the risk of travelling abroad during the pandemic.

He said ministers would "not hesitate" to impose measures, with fears that France may be next due to the increases.

Mr Sunak told Sky News: “It’s a tricky situation. What I can say to people is we’re in the midst of a global pandemic and that means there is always the risk of disruption to travel plans and people need to bear that in mind.

“It’s the right thing for us to do to keep everything under review on a constant basis talking with our scientists, our medical advisers, and if we need to take action as you’ve seen overnight we will of course not hesitate to do that and we’re doing that to protect people’s health.”

Here is the full list of countries people returning from must isolate for 14 days.

Some of the countries - such as Spain - do not require holidaymakers to isolate while visiting.
