The 21 latest North West hires and promotions

Businesses with operations across the North West have announced a string of top appointments and promotions over the last seven days.

Law firms, tech firms and a bank have all made major moves.

Below, we round up the latest hires and promotions that we feel you should not miss.

Kuits solicitors

The Manchester-based team at commercial law firm Kuits solicitors (Kuits solicitors)

Manchester commercial law firm Kuits solicitors has announced eight promotions.

Steve Jackson has been promoted to partner in Kuits’ commercial property team.

Matt Wallis and Charlotte Barker, also from Kuits’ commercial property team and Dan Adcock-Kirsh from the dispute resolution team have all been promoted to senior associate.

Four solicitors have been promoted to associate: Seb Wahlstrohm (residential property), Kate Marshall and Rebecca Winteringham (tax and probate) and James Howarth (employment).

Kingdom Medical

Jay Thinsa, Kingdom Medical (Kingdom Medical)

Kingdom Medical, a company within Kingdom Services Group based in Newton-le-Willows, has promoted Jay Thinsa to the role of managing director.

He was previously performance and quality manager at Kingdom Medical.

Mr Thinsa said: "Hard work and dedication are the fundamentals that have helped build Kingdom Medical to where it is now, and I am taking on this role at an important time."

Code Computerlove

Hannah Pickford, Code Computerlove (Code Computerlove)

Manchester-based digital product and service company Code Computerlove has appointed Hannah Pickford as people and culture lead.

She has joined from Social Chain where she was happiness manager.

She said: "I’ve always admired Code, even when I was working as a recruiter several years ago. The high retention rate and culture shone through everything they did, so when there was an opportunity to join the team, it was not to be missed."

DF Capital

David Witherspoon of DF Capital (Shoot Business)

Manchester-based DF Capital has appointed David Witherspoon as managing director - commercial sectors.

He is responsible for all lending activity across agriculture, industrial and transport asset types and leads the bank's sector manufacturer programme and client management teams.

For the past three years he has run his own consultancy. Before that, he worked at DLL for almost 18 years in a variety of senior global roles. Earlier in his career, he also worked for GE Capital, Woodchester Credit Lyonnais, Sabre Leasing and Mercantile Credit.

The North West Business Leadership Team

The North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT) has welcomed Rachel O’Donnell, lead for nuclear at Mace Consult, as its latest new member.

In her day job, she is responsible business development and delivery across the nuclear portfolio at the global consultancy and construction company, Mace, including gigawatt-scale new build, small modular reactors and decommissioning.

Prior to this, she led Mace’s retrofit team, advising and supporting clients with the challenge of keeping their assets, estates and places relevant, fit for purpose and in line with national climate targets.

Browne Jacobson

Law firm Browne Jacobson has appointed employment law specialist Lee Ashwood as a partner in its Manchester office.

Mr Ashwood, who joins from Freeths in Manchester, has over 13 years' experience advising UK and international business and organisations.

He said: "I am excited to be joining Browne Jacobson employment team in Manchester. I have been impressed by the firm’s ambitions to be a genuine powerhouse when it comes to employment law as well as its broad portfolio of national and regional clients serviced out of the firm’s Manchester office which has firmly established itself as a major player since opening in 2012."

MHA Moore and Smalley

Accountancy and business advisory firm MHA Moore and Smalley has made a trio of director level appointments in the North West.

Jack Steer, who is based at its Lancaster office, has been promoted to director in the firm's audit team.

Yvonne Coulston has been promoted to director from senior manager within the accounts and advisory team.

Catherine Holt has been promoted to director of business operations, based at the firm's Preston office. She was previously business operations manager.

Together

Andrew Douglas of Together (Together)

Cheadle-based lender Together has announced the appointment of Andrew Douglas as new national account manager for networks and clubs.

He will be providing education on Together's diverse range of specialist lending products to members and advisors.

Previously, he has held roles across top financial institutions, such as Halifax, Nationwide Building Society, Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money.

Harrison Drury

North West law firm Harrison Drury has appointed construction lawyer Katherine Sibley as a partner and head of its specialist construction law team.

She will support Harrison Drury's clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters, advising developers, contractors, subcontractors, engineers and other construction professionals.

Joining the firm from Brabners, she will work across Harrison Drury’s Cumbria and Lancashire regions, supporting clients operating regionally, nationally and internationally.

Blume

Andrew Chadwick of Blume (Blume)

Manchester-based Blume has expanded its management team with the appointment of Andrew Chadwick as business development manager.

Mr Chadwick brings over 18 years of legal sector experience to the team, most recently with Fletchers Solicitors as head of costs.

Prior to this, he was a director at Ultimate Costs where he had sole responsibility for business development and bringing new clients on board.

Fieldfisher

Fieldfisher has appointed David Bowcock as its new managing partner in Manchester.

He joined Fieldfisher as head of corporate in 2018, having previously spent 16 years at Eversheds and nine years at Brabners.

Mr Bowcock said: "I'm delighted to lead the office in its next stage of growth in Manchester. We have an incredible team of entrepreneurial and talented lawyers in the city and over the years we've grown to become a really strong offering."

MC Construction

Russ Forshaw and David Lowe of MC Construction (MC Construction)

MC Construction has promoted group operations director Russ Forshaw to managing director to succeed David Lowe, who has become the company's executive chairman.

It is the first time in the Salford-based company’s 51-year history that a non-family member has held the managing director role.

Mr Forshaw joined the company in June 2017. Initially he was the head of a new facilities services division before being promoted to group operations director.
