The 2026 Polestar 4 Gets A Huge Price Cut, Just In Time For The First U.S. Deliveries

  • U.S. deliveries of the Polestar 4 are now underway, six months after the EV went on sale here.
  • After the discontinuation of the Polestar 2 entry-level sedan stateside, the Polestar 4 is now the automaker’s cheapest car here.
  • To entice customers, the company is slashing $10,000 off the starting price for a limited time.

Deliveries of the 2026 Polestar 4 electric crossover are now officially underway in the United States and Canada, six months after the controversial EV went on sale stateside and two years after the first units rolled off the production line in China.

Despite the delay, this is a big moment for Polestar, as the 4 is now its most affordable model stateside, after the Polestar 2 entry-level sedan, a big fan favorite, was discontinued earlier this year due to tariffs.

The Polestar 4 doesn't have a rear window.

The Polestar 4 was initially supposed to go on sale here last year, but the timing changed due to the same tariffs that sealed the 2's fate, a CEO change and some money troubles. The car is now finally being delivered, with the first units handed off by the automaker’s store in Miami, Florida.

To try and make up for the delays, Polestar is temporarily slashing the starting price of its entry-level crossover by a whopping $10,000. That’s a good deal, no matter what you think of Polestar, and it means that $47,800 can get you behind the wheel of a 310-mile EV with 272 horsepower, rear-wheel drive and a zero to 60 miles per hour sprint time of 6.9 seconds.

Opt for the $54,300 dual-motor version, and the power output increases to 544 hp, leading to a 60 mph sprint in a sprightly 3.7 seconds. However, the EPA-rated range goes down to 280 miles.

Interestingly, the range ratings of both versions, which are powered by the same 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack, have gone up by 10 miles since the Polestar 4 went on sale in June. Pricing-wise, the Swedish-designed crossover is at least $2,000 more expensive than the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive Tesla Model Y Premium versions, even with the discount. Moreover, the Model Y trumps the Polestar 4 when it comes to the official range figures, but the Swedish automaker’s offering is decidedly a little more upscale, and it’s splendid to drive. Also, the dual-motor Polestar 4 is currently a better deal than the Tesla Model Y Performance.

The 2026 Polestar 4 comes standard with an Android Automotive OS infotainment system, a panoramic glass roof, adaptive cruise control, a heat pump, a 360-degree camera system, 20-inch wheels, Pilot Assist, and Lane Change Assist. It does not come with a rear window, however, which makes it a little controversial. Instead, Polestar fitted a camera that feeds live video to a digital rearview mirror.

Production of the Swedish-designed EV kicked off in China in 2023, but the North American model is assembled by Renault in South Korea. That’s despite the fact that the company manufactures the Polestar 3, which is confusingly larger and more expensive than the 4, in the United States.
