Are you ready for the glitziest, sparkliest and gaudiest night of the Australian television calendar, because the TV WEEK Logie Awards are officially on the horizon.
Every year, the Aussie entertainment industry comes together to celebrate our own home-grown talent working their magic on TV screens around the country. Now in its 65th year, the Logie Awards will be kicking off at The Star Sydney on Sunday, August 3 with the whos-who of the industry coming together to dress up, honour the great work they’ve done and ultimately get on the piss.
While winning any Logie is prestigious, there’s nothing more distinguished and respectable than winning the gold Logie for the Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. In the past, the Gold Logie category has admittedly been dominated by a bunch of blokes, but this year, the ladies have reigned supreme and we fkn love to see it.
In the running for the coveted TV WEEK Gold Logie is Hamish Blake (who has already won the damn thing twice), Sonia Kruger (who has one Gold Logie), Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger, and Poh Ling Yeow.
“Looking at the list of nominations, it’s always thrilling to see the diverse range of Australian stories being told on our screens,” said TV WEEK Editorial Director Amber Giles.
“It’s especially pleasing to see the breadth of original Australian content on both free-to-air and streaming services. If you see a show or star on the list that you’ve watched and enjoyed, then don’t be shy — get voting!”
While I’d love to see I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here‘s Julia Morris win after being nominated in the Gold category three times, I think my vote has to go to Poh Ling Yeow. Not only is she sunshine personified, but if the legendary MasterChef star wins, she would be the first woman of colour to win a Gold Logie.
