The 200-year-old home you'd have no idea is hidden on this every day road in a Swansea suburb

When you're driving along Sketty Park Road in the Swansea suburb of Sketty, you're probably going from A to B. It's the route straight up from Mumbles Road to Gower Road, to access all areas in the west of Swansea.

There are clues to what might be behind some of the walls, but everything is very well concealed. Otherwise, it's a fairly pleasant, but otherwise average road in a typical area of Swansea.

Now the veil has been lifted on one of the properties you might never have known was there - and it's an absolute gem.

Brynhuelog, in Sketty, has been owned by the same family since 1946 and boasts many of its original features including ornate coving, a carved staircase and open fireplaces.

For offers in the region of £950,000, you'll get an acre of landscaped gardens, a five-bedroom house and planning permission to build another detached property if you want to spread out.

Accessed by a sweeping driveway behind gates, the house is a treasure trove of Edwardian features including geometric floor tiles and an ornate wooden carved staircase leading to the first floor.

Many of the rooms have solid wood flooring and the lounge boasts a fireplace with a marble hearth and carved wooden surround.

The bright and spacious kitchen continues the Georgian geometric-style tiling with a high ceiling, gas fire Aga stove, and windows looking out onto the extensive garden to the rear of the property.

More period features are present on the first floor, with Edwardian radiators in both bathrooms contrasting with a modern Jacuzzi bath.

A sky light on the first floor allows natural light to flood into this stunning example of Edwardian design that is largely untouched but in pristine condition.

There's plenty to offer nearby too as the property is located within walking distance of the centre of Sketty, Singleton Park and Swansea University.

Coastal walks in north and south Gower are only a short car ride away.

But if you want to stay put, and why wouldn't you in this property, you can meander around your own Japanese garden complete with pond and bridge and there's even a kitchen garden for the green-fingered.
