The 1st Japanese has died from possible coronavirus related pneumonia in Wuhan

The Foreign Ministry reported on Saturday that a Japanese man in his 60s, hospitalized in Wuhan, China, for a severe case of pneumonia, has died. After undergoing an initial examination, the hospital diagnosed that he was "likely positive for the virus," and the man remained in critical condition. The hospital informed the Japanese Embassy in China of his death on Saturday.

The man, a resident of Wuhan, developed a fever on Jan. 16 and on Jan. 22 he was hospitalized.

While the man tested positive after the initial test, the hospital stated that it was "difficult to make a definitive diagnosis," and reported the cause of death as virus-related pneumonia.
