The 1975 returns to Bangkok after four years

After four years, Manchester-based indie pop-rock outfit The 1975 returns to Bangkok as part of the Asian leg of their 2019 world tour.

Announced by concert organiser Viji Corp (who is also responsible for bringing in LAUV next year), the band -- lead vocalist and guitarist Matthew "Matty" Healy, guitarist Adam Hanna, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel -- will be performing at Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani, on Sept 13, 2019.

The quartet first got together in their teens in the early 2000s, eventually releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013. Their eclectic blend of funky 80s electro-pop, catchy hooks and well-crafted tunes not only captured the interest of indie music lovers, but that of fans of pop-rock and alternative music.

Chief songwriter Matty Healy has always pushed his bandmates to venture out of their comfort zone, changing their sound and identity on each album. This approach has proved very successful, resulting in megahits like Chocolate and Girls from their debut album, Somebody Else from their follow-up I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It and TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME from this year's A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. The band is expected to release its fourth album, Notes On A Conditional Form, in May of next year, completing a cycle of album releases they have dubbed the "Music For Cars" era.
