The 19 Bristol City players out of contract in 2021 as Dean Holden gives hint over new deals

It could be a busy time ahead for Bristol City with the summer transfer window deadline looming and plenty to still be sorted out.

Bristol City have made five signings so far this summer, with Chris Martin and Chris Brunt arriving on free transfers, while Joe Williams signed a four-year deal after arriving from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

Steven Sessegnon and Alfie Mawson have also joined the club this summer, both on loan from Premier League side Fulham.

But while there could yet be more new arrivals at Ashton Gate before the transfer deadline, there is also a pressing need to sort out the futures of some of City's first team squad, with 19 players currently set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

And it is something that Bristol City boss Dean Holden has hinted is being worked on, with the manager stating that there could be more players following in Max O'Leary's footsteps, after he put pen to paper on a new deal earlier this week.

"Yeah, there will be [more contract news to come]," he revealed to Bristol Live at the pre-Nottingham Forest press conference held on Wednesday afternoon.

"We’ll see [if things are close on further new contracts]. It would be easy for me to say we’re pretty close. You never quite know until things are properly agreed and signed and stuff."

Bristol Live understands that Famara Diedhiou, Niclas Eliasson and Liam Walsh have all been offered new terms while Taylor Moore has also explained that he hopes to commit his future to the club in the near future too.

It is also understood that Zak Vyner is in line for a new deal too and the club may also look to reward Tyreeq Bakinson's first-team breakthrough with a new contract as well, although he currently has a deal until 2022.

But there are many other players whose contracts are currently set to expire at the end of the current season, which could leave the Robins facing a squad overhaul at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Among them are Andreas Weimann, Jack Hunt, Jamie Paterson, Nathan Baker, Rene Gilmartin, Tommy Rowe and Brunt, who signed a one-year deal when joining the club this summer.

Bradley Webb, Freddie Hinds, Hakeeb Adelakun, JoJo Wollacott, Marley Watkins, Robbie Cundy and Ryley Towler also have their contracts expiring, although it is understood that Bristol City have the option of exercising an additional year as part of many of the current contracts of those running out next summer.

However, decisions will need to be made soon, with players out of contract free to speak with other clubs in the last six months of their deals.
