The 17 Nottinghamshire neighbourhoods with the highest Covid-19 rates

Government data shows the hotspot areas for Covid-19 across Nottinghamshire, as 17 areas have rates at around 200.

The figures, accurate for the seven days ending March 1, show how many Covid cases individual areas have reported during that period.

Rates are expressed by cases per 100,000 - currently, the national average is 69.9.

The rolling rate for many areas across Nottinghamshire is much higher than this, with East Bridgford and Aslockton topping the scale at 403.3.

In the city, Hyson Green has the highest rate at 337 per 100,000.

Across Nottingham and the wider county, however, rates are mostly coming down with some areas currently 'suppressed' as they have less than three active coronavirus cases.

The data provided at a neighbourhood level shows Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs) which are localities of around 8,000 people used in census data.

Below are all the areas currently with rates about 200:

East Bridgford & Aslockton - 403.3

Hyson Green - 337

Sutton Central and Leamington - 301.6

Basford Park Lane - 302.2

Clifton South - 248.6

Forest Fields - 244

North Sherwood - 242.8

Bestwood - 241.8

Worksop Kilton - 240.7

Worksop North - 236.7

Carlton - 236.3

Hucknall Westville - 232.8

East Kirkby - 223.7

Worksop Cheapside - 220

Bilborough North - 218.6

Clifton West - 208.6

Stapleford North - 200.6

Public Health director for Nottinghamshire, Jonathan Gribbin, issued a stark warning to residents about sticking to the guidelines as the route of lockdown begins.

He said: "Although the rates are heading in the right direction, they're still at a very high level.

"And for that reason, some of the messages we want to pass on will once again mingle that optimism and positivity with a really strong note of caution.

"Over the last week, every area of Nottinghamshire has seen a reduction in rates.

"That said, the trajectory downwards has been slower than many parts of the county and it still leaves us significantly higher than the England average.

"If we were to come out of lockdown measures with rates at this kind of level it would leave us extremely vulnerable to a resurgence which would threaten our NHS."
