The 15 Swansea City players out of contract next summer and what will happen to them

Swansea City resume their 2019/20 Championship campaign this weekend with a trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley.

Steve Cooper's men currently sit in fourth place in the table, only one point behind league leaders West Brom with 11 games played.

And while it's been an impressive start to the season under Cooper, the head coach has some major concerns regarding the status of many of his players.

A total of 11 players will be out of contract next summer, while a further four are set to see their loan deals with Swansea expire.

Among those are goalkeepers Erwin Mulder and Kristoffer Nordfeldt who are yet to play in the league this term, with summer signing Freddie Woodman - currently on loan from Newcastle United - making the No. 1 spot his own.

Mike van der Hoorn was given a one-year extension in the latter stages of the 2018/19 season, with fellow defenders Ben Wilmot and Kyle Naughton also at risk of leaving in June 2020.

And the Swans have plenty of decisions to make further up the pitch too.

Tom Carroll has made just two league appearances for the Swans since returning from injury, with his only other outing under Cooper coming in the 6-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Cambridge United.

Club stalwarts Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge are also among those who could leave at the end of the season, although the latter has been promised a future role at the Liberty Stadium by chairman Trevor Birch.

And there are a fair number of attackers who could depart.

Yan Dhanda is in the final year of his contract at Swansea having moved to South Wales from Liverpool in 2018.

Former record signing and this season's top scorer Borja Baston's renaissance has been remarkable to say the least, but he could well leave after his best campaign for the club.

In addition to the Spaniard, summer signings Sam Surridge and Aldo Kalulu will see their loan deals expire, although Swansea do have an option to buy on the latter.

Jefferson Montero and Courtney Baker-Richardson will also see their current deals run out next summer, with the duo likely to be released.

So there's plenty for the top brass at SA1 to consider.

They will no doubt hope to retain the services of the likes of van der Hoorn and Routledge while Borja is proving his worth after three years of struggles since joining from Eibar.

But it could well prove to be the end of the road for Nordfeldt and Mulder, while the long-term futures of Carroll, Naughton and Dyer remain uncertain.
