The 15 Hearts players about to enter the final year of their Tynecastle contract

As a club Hearts have a number of significant short-term issues to overcome before football restarts.

Will league reconstruction pass, and what division will the club be playing in? Will Daniel Stendel still be manager?

However when things do eventually resume – whether that be in the Premiership in August or Championship in October – a number of the club's players will embark on the final year of their current Tynecastle deal.

As things stand a total of 15 first team players will be free agents in the summer of 2021 and able to move elsewhere, unless Hearts deal them in of course.

Goalkeepers Colin Doyle and Zdenek Zlamal would be free to leave along with highly-rated youngster Aaron Hickey and key men such as Michael Smith and Sean Clare.

The players set to enter the final year of their contracts are as follows:

  • Colin Doyle
  • Zdenek Zlamal
  • Aaron Hickey
  • Aidy White
  • Ben Garuccio
  • Michael Smith
  • Christophe Berra
  • Anthony McDonald
  • Callumn Morrison
  • Sean Clare
  • Andy Irving
  • Harry Cochrane
  • Olly Lee
  • Craig Wighton
  • Conor Washington

Players such as John Souttar, Craig Halkett and Peter Haring have two years left on their deal while Steven Naismith, Liam Boyce and Loic Damour are all on longer-term contracts.

Hearts announced this week that Lewis Moore had signed a new two-year contract with the club, having impressed in recent months under Daniel Stendel.

Youngster Scott McGill also signed a new deal along with Leroy Makovora, Mackenzie Lawler and Jay Sandison.

Talks with Jamie Brandon and Euan Henderson are also ongoing.
