Fake tan fans have ditched their mitts, and have instead been using a 14p product most people have in their kitchen to get a 'flawless streak-free' tan. Trying to get the perfect result for a natural glow isn't as easy as you might think, but several women claim that using the kitchen item instead of a mitt has completely changed their tanning regime.
Posting on the 'Make-Up Tips and Tricks for Women Over 40' Facebook group, Lucy Burn wrote: "So I saw a tip on a different Facebook group about applying fake tan with a latex glove instead of the usual tanning mitt. Just to let you lovely lot know that I’ve tried it and couldn’t be happier with the results!! Streak free, even tan. Will never use a mitt again!"
Her post was quickly inundated with replies from women who found the same thing, the Manchester Evening News reports. Trish Firmin wrote: "I did it that way for years. Couldn't bring myself to try the mitt even though they kept sending me one."

Jenny Anthony said: "This is the only way I’ve done it. I feel like it’s easier to tell where I’ve applied it and how much." Elaine Mordoh wrote: "I’ve been doing it this way for 20 years. Then a smooth makeup sponge for my hands & fingers. Perfect results each time!"
Toni Young commented: "That’s how I do it! Great, even coverage every time!" Corinna Lopardo said: "I’ve been applying mine with a latex glove for a few years, I love how even it goes on."
And it seems as though it's not a new trick, with a Tik Tok video which compares the results you get when tanning with a mitt vs with latex gloves racking up 18.7 million views. In the video, the creator puts fake tan on her legs - using a mitt for one leg, and a latex glove for the other.
While the latex glove leg looks streak-free, the mitt leg does look a little bit more patchy and difficult to rub in properly. One person replied: "Why did the mitt make it green."
Another said: "Definitely looks more flawless with the gloves on!" A third commented: "I used to use a mitt but changed to gloves after watching ur (sic) videos." A fourth said: "I’ve been using gloves for about 16 years, and everyone I tell that to calls me crazy for not using a mitt! This is exactly why I refuse to use a mitt."
Tesco is currently selling 40 packs of disposable latex gloves for £5.50 each - working out at 14p per glove - but they're also available in shops like Home Bargains, ASDA and B&M, and you might be able to find them even cheaper.
