The £13.5m windfall to help Manchester United fund Jadon Sancho transfer ahead of Chelsea

Chelsea have already made their intentions clear during this summer’s transfer window.

The Blues have already made a splash in the market by completing the signings of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Frank Lampard is also looking to complete a deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz in the coming weeks.

Football.london understands that a deal for the Germany international is moving closer, with reports over the weekend suggesting that Chelsea have made an opening £54 million bid.

A number of other players have also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, including Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Both players are likely to demand hefty fees, with Sancho set to cost over £100m should he move this summer.

But it’s not only the price that will be a barrier to Chelsea completing a transfer for the England international.

Manchester United appear to have overtaken the Blues in the race for Sancho in recent weeks as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils may now receive a financial boost to help them land Sancho this summer.

According to Corriere della Sera (via football Italia ), United and Inter Milan have reached a £13.5 million agreement to see Alexis Sanchez to Italy permanently.

The Chilean has been on loan at the Serie A club this season after failing to make an impact at Old Trafford after moving from Arsenal.

As well as the transfer fee, selling Sanchez will also free up a lot of wages that could help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer raise the funds in order to beat Chelsea to Sancho.
