The £13.5m clause that hands Arsenal and Chelsea a Mauro Icardi transfer boost

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a move for Mauro Icardi in the past.

But it looks like the striker will be staying in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentinian has had a chequered past, with his wife and agent Wanda Nara an outspoken character when discussing her man's future.

Icardi left Inter Milan last summer after his number nine shirt was given to new signing Romelu Lukaku, going on loan to PSG for the season, with the French champions having an option to buy.

Icardi has starred for PSG, scoring 20 goals in 28 games and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the two London sides interested.

However, his form will be rewarded with a permanent contract at the Parc des Princes, with Inter and PSG to sign off on a £45million transfer ahead of the summer window.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been given a boost over a potential future transfer of the forward, however.

That is because Inter have written a clause into the deal to take him to France, whereby if the French side sell him to a different Italian side in either of the next two transfer windows, they will have to pay Inter a further £13.5million.

So, if it does not work out in the French capital and PSG are looking to offload him, they would be better suited financially to look to the Premier League, the Bundesliga or La Liga, as opposed to Serie A.
