The £12m Leicester transfer decision that could be great news for Chelsea

Ben Chilwell has been linked with a move to Chelsea for some time now.

But with Kai Havertz heavily tipped to move to Stamford Bridge this summer, any negotiations with Leicester City for Chilwell have stalled.

Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his defence, with the Blues leaking more goals than every other team who finished in the top half of the Premier League this season.

Left-back and centre-back are key positions the Blues are likely to try to strengthen once they complete a deal for Havertz and Chilwell is high among the players Chelsea are keen to sign.

And Leicester may be preparing for his departure already.

Reports in the Daily Mail claim the Foxes have made their move to sign Olympiacos full-back Kostas Tsimikas this summer.

Tsimikas has been on their radar for some time, but they will face competition from Liverpool this summer, with Jurgen Klopp keen to bolster his defence ahead of their defence of the Premier League title.

The report suggests that the Greek outfit would be willing to accept an offer of £12million for Tsimikas to leave during the summer transfer window.

And Leicester's decision to move for Tsimikas would leave the door open for Chilwell to join Chelsea. It seems unlikely that Leicester would be after Tsimikas if Chilwell was staying put at the King Power Stadium next season.

The Blues have been told to stump up a fee in the region of £80million for the England man.
