The 120-year record Leicester City broke by beating Manchester United

Manchester United's Premier League title charge suffered its latest setback on Saturday afternoon, as they were beaten 4-2 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

United, who took a 19th-minute lead in spectacular fashion through Mason Greenwood, thought they had done enough to secure at least a point when Marcus Rashford made it 2-2 with just eight minutes left on the clock.

However, Leicester restored their advantage, going 3-2 up, just 15 seconds after the restart, before summer recruit Patson Daka settled the game once and for all in stoppage time.

As well as defeat in the Midlands extending United's winless run to three matches in the league, it also brought an end to the club's 29-game unbeaten run away from home in the Premier League.

But while the result was a bitterly disappointing one for United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was a historic one for Leicester, who brought their four-game winless run in the league to an end with a three-point haul.

That is because it was the first time since 1901 that the Foxes had won three consecutive matches against United in all competitions.

Last season, Leicester and United went head-to-head on three occasions, meeting twice in the league and once in the FA Cup. After playing out a 2-2 draw on Boxing Day last year, Leicester got the better of United twice after the turn of the year, beating them 3-1 in the FA Cup at the King Power Stadium in March, before winning 2-1 at Old Trafford in the league in May.

As well as breaking a 120-year-old record, Leicester also got the better of United in back-to-back league games for the first time since 1973. Furthermore, both of those Leicester victories featured goals from Caglar Soyuncu.

The last time United were beaten by Leicester, their next game in the Premier League was a home tussle with Liverpool, which, of course, is their next fixture this time around in the league. On that occasion they were beaten 4-2, meaning they will be hoping to avoid a similar outcome next Sunday.
