The 12 Rangers players who have less than two years left on contracts as Gerrard talks priorities

There are 12 Rangers players with less than two years left on their Ibrox contracts – including a number of key first-team players.

James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield will see their deals run out in the summer of 2022 while Allan McGregor and Steven Davis are among those whose contracts expire next year.

Steven Gerrard said this week there was no rush to get players on new contracts, although there were about a "dozen" squad members who he's thought about when the subject of improved or renewed deals has come up.

When asked about Connor Goldson's situation, the Rangers boss said: "Connor's on a good contract as we speak. There's no rush on that one. I could name probably a dozen players who, in the back of my mind, I'm certainly thinking about in terms of extensions and different contracts.

"There's no rush. There's no-one whose time is running out and we're desperate to put pen to paper. We're in a good place but I think the message to all the players is – win football games and reward the club come the end of the season. Then we'll certainly look after those individuals."

Glen Kamara's Rangers contract runs until the summer of 2023, and Gerrard has made no secret of his desire to reward the Finnish international with a new deal.

When asked if he'd like to see the midfielder offered a improved contract, the Rangers boss said: "If it was my decision the answer would be yes. I've made my feelings known to Ross [Wilson] and the board on that situation. Glen has been fantastic for me since day one.

"He's grown, evolved and improved. He's listened to different areas of his game where we felt we could shape him and help him become a better player.

"But he's the one who's gone out and really worked at his game, in and out of possession. He's playing with confidence.

"He was superb at the weekend but for me he's been really consistent for a lot longer than that.

"Glen is in a fantastic place and we want him around for as long as possible. Everyone knows my feeling on that situation."
