The 12 Manchester United players still at the World Cup and when they play next

Cameroon brought the World Cup group stages to a close with one last shock on Friday evening, beating tournament favourites Brazil 1-0.

Striker Vincent Aboubakar headed home a 92nd-minute winner for the African side, denting Brazil's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages unbeaten, but it was not enough to keep their own World Cup dream alive. Cameroon exited the tournament, despite winning, as a result of Switzerland's thrilling 3-2 win over Serbia.

After Japan's heroics against Spain just 24 hours earlier, it meant that the group stages drew to a close in thrilling fashion, setting things up nicely ahead of the knockout stages getting underway on Saturday afternoon. The Netherlands and the USA will go toe-to-toe in the first last-16 fixture, ahead of England taking to the field on Sunday evening.

In total, 12 Manchester United players are still involved in the tournament with their respective nations, meaning there is still a strong chance of a Reds player laying their hands on the most coveted trophy in world football on December 18. With that said, MEN Sport has taken a quick look at the Reds players still in Qatar and when they could be in action next.

Brazil - Alex Telles, Fred, Casemiro & Antony

Despite losing their final group game 1-0 to Cameroon, five-time winners Brazil still made it through to the last-16 as group winners, meaning they will face South Korea on Monday evening, kick-off 7pm GMT. They will be strong favourites to win the tie and advance to the last-eight.

Casemiro, who scored Brazil's winner against Switzerland on Monday, was rested against Cameroon on Friday night, given he had started the opening two games of the tournament. Alex Telles, Fred and Antony, all of whom were subbed off against Cameroon, started the narrow defeat.

England - Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw & Marcus Rashford

England cruised into the last-16 with seven points from nine in the group stages. They completed their Group B schedule with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wales on Tuesday night, inspired by two goals from United ace Marcus Rashford.

The trio are all expected to start Sunday night's last-16 tie against Senegal. Kick-off is at 7pm GMT.

Portugal - Diogo Dalot & Bruno Fernandes

Like Brazil, Portugal booked their place in the last-16 with a game to spare, meaning they made changes for Friday's shock 2-1 defeat to South Korea. Diogo Dalot was handed his World Cup debut and grabbed an assist, but Bruno Fernandes was left on the bench and not risked.

He is almost certain to be recalled to the starting line-up for Portugal's last-16 clash with Switzerland. That fixture is the last of the eight last-16 ties and will take place at 7pm GMT on Tuesday evening.

Argentina - Lisandro Martinez

Argentina, despite suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening fixture, made it out of Group C with relative ease in the end, defeating both Mexico and Poland by two goals to nil. They topped the group and now face Australia for a place in the last-eight.

United defender Lisandro Martinez started just one of their three group matches and it remains to be seen if he will start against the Socceroos on Saturday. Kick-off is at 7pm GMT.

Netherlands - Tyrell Malacia

Like England, the Netherlands topped their group with seven points from a possible nine, meaning they escaped the jaws of Group A with ease. Their reward for that is a last-16 tie with the USA, which is the first of the knockout stages.

It is pencilled in to take place at 3pm GMT on Saturday afternoon. United left-back Tyrell Malacia has not featured so far in the tournament, meaning it is hard to see him starting this one.

France - Raphael Varane

Despite suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Tunisia in their final group game, France made it through to the knockout stages as Group D winners. They beat both Australia (4-1) and Denmark (2-1) in their opening two games to get the job done with a game to spare.

Raphael Varane, after missing the win over Australia, returned to the side for the win over Denmark and has started the last two games, although he has not finished either of them. France face Poland on Sunday afternoon, kicking-off at 3pm GMT.
