The 11 schools in Bristol to benefit from £1bn government rebuilding programme

Eleven schools in Bristol are to receive funding to refurbish buildings.

It is part of the Government's 10-year school rebuilding programme, which will be kick-started with more than £1billion for the first 50 projects in 2020/21.

135 schools across the South West will benefit from extra funding to expand classrooms, upgrade facilities and improve the education of children, as part of the government announcement.

They include 11 in Bristol.

The scheme is designed to improve schools while also helping the economy, providing investment and jobs.

Boris Johnson said: "All children deserve the best possible start in life - regardless of their background or where they live.

"As we bounce back from the pandemic it's important we lay the foundations for a country where everyone has the opportunity to succeed, with our younger generations front and centre of this mission.

"This major new investment will make sure our schools and colleges are fit for the future, with better facilities and brand new buildings so that every child gets a world-class education."
