Matt Hancock confirmed yesterday that the government is confident that the vaccine will protect against the new coronavirus variant.
His briefing came amid growing concerns that the spread of the Indian covid variant will derail the Governments 'road map' out of lockdown and force the June 21 date for the ending of all restrictions to be pushed back.
Surge testing has been announced in six of the worst affected areas in England - including Kirklees.
The Health Secretary also confirmed a decision on unlocking and ending all restrictions on June 21 will be made by June 14.

Mr Hancock said the government will take step four not before June 21. A decision will be given on June 14 using all the information we have up until then.
"Every day we are getting more information," he said.
"A final decision will be made and published on June 14 - until then it is too early to say."
However, areas across the nation have began to rises in covid rates amidst a new variant.
