The 11 countries likely to be on Ireland's 'Green List' including two holiday hotspots

Italy and Greece are both in contention to be on the 'Green list' once the Government release it later this week.

The announcement was scheduled for Monday but with the Cabinet meeting postponed it is not expected until later.

The countries that are expected to make the list will have a lower coronavirus cases incidence rate per 100,000 people than Ireland going off the last two weeks.

Ireland's current incidence rate per 100,000 of the population for the last two weeks is 4.9.

That would mean both Italy and Greece would make the list based on the data released by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden and Portugal are all some way off being included.

Places like Denmark, Netherlands and Germany could be included in future lists but their incidence rate is slightly higher than Ireland as of July 19.

Cyprus and Malta are two other sun destinations likely to make the cut.

Below is a list of the countries that would likely be included and their incidence rate in the last two weeks.

Countries in contention for Green List

Italy - 4.6

Norway - 2.3

Finland - 0.9

Hungary - 1.4

Greece - 4.4

Estonia - 2.1

Slovakia - 4.2

Lithuania - 3.0

Latvia - 3.4

Cyprus - 4.0

Malta - 0.4

Can you travel to these places once list is released?

NPHET are still advising against all non-essential travel but if people are to holiday the list will highlight places that are thought not to pose a massive risk.
