The £10m Bristol City striker linked with a move to Cardiff City and the truth behind the rumours

Cardiff City are NOT believed to be in negotiations over a move for Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou.

A report from Get French Football on Wednesday afternoon suggested the Bluebirds were of several clubs "actively engaged in discussions" over a move for the 26-year-old, along with Championship rivals Huddersfield Town.

West Bromwich Albion and several other Turkish sides have also been credited with an interest in the Senegalese forward, who's reportedly valued between £8m and £10m.

However, sources close to the player have played down suggestions of a move away this summer, claiming that the forward has returned to pre-season training and is looking forward to the campaign ahead with the Robins.

Boss Neil Warnock has made little secret of his desire to bring in a striker this summer, adding that the club could be set to scour the continent in order to get the right man in.

"We're looking at all the foreign markets as well as English and if we can get somebody, possibly more at a good age rather than an experienced player," said Warnock.

Genk striker Mbwana Samatta has once again been mentioned, although a move looks unlikely given that the player is understood to prefer a transfer to the Premier League.

If Cardiff were to make a move for Diedhiou, it would be the third summer in a row that they've raided bitter rivals Bristol City for a forward, having previously bagged Bobby Reid and Lee Tomlin, both of whom could have key roles to play in Cardiff's assault on the Championship next season.

Diedhiou currently has two more years to run on his current contract at Ashton Gate, and has netted 27 goals in 80 appearances over the last two seasons.
