The 10 Leeds areas with the highest Covid infection rates right now

Coronavirus cases are continuing to rise across the country as the government brings in more stringent restrictions before Christmas.

As cases of the Omicron variant continue to grow, health bodies are worried Omicron cases could hit 'one million' by the end of the year.

In general, however, Leeds is currently on a lower than average infection rate.

There have been 2,667 cases reported in Leeds in the seven days up to December 10, an increase of nine on the previous week.

This makes the infection rate per 100,000 people for the whole city 333.9 as per the latest data.

This is well below the country average - but there are still a few Leeds areas that are seeing rates soar.

Here's a rundown of the 10 areas in Leeds that are seeing the highest infection rates currently:

  1. Churwell: 50 cases, up 10 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate per 100,00 people - 812.0
  2. Otley North: 42 cases, up 12 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 677.2
  3. Boston Spa & Bramham: 42 cases, up 3 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 586.6
  4. Roudhay West: 34 cases, up 6 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 575.5
  5. Pudsey South East: 40 cases, up 15 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 554.0
  6. Moor Allerton: 35 cases, up 3 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 553.8
  7. Horsforth East: 43 cases, up 21 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 539.3
  8. Guiseley North & West: 39 cases, up 16 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 527.6
  9. Morley Bruntcliffe & Woodkirk: 40 cases, up 7 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 522.7
  10. Alwoodley: 38 cases, up 10 from the previous seven days, rolling infection rate - 521.2
