The 10 countries that could join green list from August 5 after travel review, according to expert

The latest countries which could be added to the government's green list for travel abroad include Italy and Germany, a travel expert has predicted.

The government's next travel review will come in the first week of August.

And since then, holidaymakers have had to work with a traffic light system which determines quarantine restrictions when returning.

But some new nations and holiday destinations could join the green list next week.

They include Italy, Germany and Poland, according to early predictions from travel experts, Birmingham Live reports.

Scientists at the Joint Biosecurity Centre are currently reviewing 77 countries.

The Telegraph has reported some of these could join the green list on August 5.

And the government has already made clear that countries can change between lists without warning should conditions change and, at the moment, there are a number of green countries currently on the watchlist which means they are at risk of moving from green to the amber list.

Former BA strategist Robert Boyle has identified the countries most likely to be given green list status.

Mr Boyle has predicted:

  • Romania
  • Slovenia
  • Lativa
  • Lithuania
  • Slovakia
  • Poland
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Austria
  • Switzerland

It comes as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have launched a ‘Useful documents’ feature on their mobile apps, allowing customers to upload and store important travel documents, such as overseas country entry forms and negative Covid-19 test results in one location.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “As a result of Government travel requirements, there are additional documents for holidaymakers to be aware of such as test results and passenger locator forms."

He added in his statement: “As we start to welcome back more customers and increase our offering to include flights and holidays to over 40 quarantine-free destinations, we want to make the process of travelling with us as smooth as possible."
