Legendary guitarist, singer/songwriter and composer Robbie Robertson died this week at the age of 80.

Robertson was the lead guitarist and a songwriter for iconic rock group The Band, writing classic songs like “The Weight,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and “Up on Cripple Creek.” He was a member of the music group from 1965-77.

Robertson also had a successful solo career and was noted for working with folk legend Bob Dylan and composed music for numerous films by director Martin Scorsese.

Robertson’s final film score with Scorsese will be heard this fall when Killers of the Flower Moon releases in theaters.
