The 10 best dogs who enjoy cuddles more than any other breeds

After a long day at work, there’s nothing better than being greeted at the front door by a loved one.

It’s even better when that loved one has a wet nose and a waggy tail.

According to the American Kennel Society, there are some breeds of dog who enjoy cuddles more than others.

Coming in at number one is the Labrador Retriever – who has been named as one of Scotland’s favourite dogs.

Others include Golden Retrievers, Greyhounds and Jack Russell Terriers, to name just a few.

Here’s the top 10 dogs who enjoy cuddles more than any other breeds, according to the American Kennel Society:

1. Labrador Retriever

When it comes to Labs, you can depend upon them for a hug. Always gentle and dependable, they’ll often lean in for a cuddle themselves.

2. Pug

These little cuties appear to be designed for cuddles. They love to curl up cat-like in your lap and love to be petted - even gaining themselves the name ‘velcro dog’ they’re that clingy.

3. Golden Retriever

Especially with children, Golden Retrievers love to be affectionate. Warm, comforting and a good size, they are very cuddly.

4. Newfoundland

These giant dogs will happily snuggle on the sofa - if they can fit. The make for good armrests in themselves, and are very amiable animals.

5. Bichon Frise

The fluffy Bichon Frise will hop on your lap for a cuddle, and hop on the bed (if you let them), come bedtime.

6. Boxer

Known for their loyalty, Boxers will show it with lots of affection, and enjoy a stroke.

7. Jack Russell Terrier

Not only will Jack Russells follow you around incessantly and ward off any threats from strangers, they will also make a beeline for any chance of a cuddle.

8. Greyhound

Ideal therapy dogs, Greyhounds are snoozy animals, and will happily lay down beside you for a snuggle any chance they get.

9. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Soft, silky and very affectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel also has a habit of following your every move, and nabbing a pat.

10. Dachshund

Sausage dogs love a tickle and are always getting their tummies out for a rub.
