Watching the 91st Annual Academy Awards arrivals, I was already excited about writing about all of the jaw-dropping jewels. Then, as if the pieces on actresses Charlize Theron, Michelle Yeoh, Amy Adams, Rachel Weisz and Helen Mirren weren’t enough to send me typing, Oscar 2019 made jewelry history when Lady Gaga arrived in the legendary Tiffany diamond which Audrey Hepburn wore in the promotional shots in 1961 for Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Needless to say, this year’s Oscars featured unprecedented jewels. Here are our 10 favorites.
- Lady Gaga wearing the 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond, which was acquired by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1878, a year after it was discovered. With her Alexander McQueen black strapless gown, Lady Gaga evokes the look that Audrey Hepburn made famous in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and when she wore it in publicity stills for the film. Before tonight Hepburn was one of the only two people to wear the diamond for which renowned Jean Schlumberger created a “wardrobe of settings.”
The other was been worn by Mrs. Sheldon Whitehouse for a Tiffany Ball in 1957. Tiffany & Co continues to display the diamond which the renowned house has kept since its purchase in the 1900s.

-SAG recipient of Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Favourite, Rachel Weisz has looked elegant and radiant at each of the awards presentations of the season. At the 2019 Oscars, she shone in two Cartier Belle Epoque brooches worn as a headpiece, a look we were waiting to see more of this season.

-Charlize Theron never disappoints. She consistently evokes old Hollywood glamour in sinuous gowns and jewels that range from antique diamond clips on the straps of a dress to jewels draping down her back to this look of layered diamond Bulgari on her neck and wrist.

-Amy Adams shows off her curves and is another actress that gives a nod to the sirens of Hollywood’s heyday in platinum and diamond Cartier jewels. We love the Cartier Collection brooch clipped on Cartier High Jewelry Tennis Necklace creating a modern feel, accented by platinum and diamond earrings circa 1934 and a Cartier Collection bracelet, circa 1937 with a more current Cartier collection ring from 2005. Each piece complements the next, enhancing Adams total look.

- Michelle Yeoh pulls off another winning combination in Chopard jewels and although the swingy linear earrings are stunning, the diamond bracelet climbing up her wrist is awe-inspiring and was a show stopper of the evening.

- Helen Mirren knows how to wear jewels. She is refined and sophisticated and always look like she belongs in the pieces she wears. The Harry Winston ensemble of Cluster diamond pieces set into platinum jewels never seems like too much even though there is a lot of high voltage bling on her neck, ears and wrist. The look seemed to create an elegance which emanated confidence and feminity at the same time.

-Regina King outdid herself throughout awards season this year culminating in her best red carpet look and her final win of the season, the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in If Beale Street Could Talk. Her scene-stealing look consisted of diamond Chopard earrings, bracelet and ring which gracefully accented to perfection her white Oscar de la Renta gown.

-Laura Harrier exudes a youthful feminity in the Bulgari High Jewelry necklace with antique cut emeralds, cushion rubellites, step cut diamonds and pavé-set diamonds, set into platinum. The enduring quality and timeless elegance of the necklace is a perfect juxtaposition to her spirited and lively demeanor.

-Not many people can pull off a yellow dress and high ponytail but Constance Wu did it with a regal nonchalance. And, although we are excited to see more necklaces, bracelets, rings and hair jewels, Wu looked simply beautiful in a pair of vintage-inspired Atelier Swarovski earrings.

-Sarah Paulson was one of the poster girls for the statement necklace during the 2019 Oscars. Wearing a Harry Winston Guipure diamond necklace of 55.70-carats set in platinum, she completed the look with Winston’s round brilliant diamond micropavé ear studs set into platinum which offered just enough sparkle and allowed Paulson’s own radiance to shine through and offered us a winning look as we watched the wind up of award season.
