The 10 areas in Leeds with the lowest coronavirus infection rate

A leafy suburb in north Leeds has recorded the lowest coronavirus infection rate in the city, latest government figures show.

Tinshill, which in the north of Leeds, had only nine Covid cases in the seven days leading up to November 14, taking the areas infection rolling rate to 154.1.

This case rate is below average compared to rest of the country and this was the only area in Leeds with less than 10 coronavirus cases.

Some other neighbourhoods, however, have recorded more than 50 cases in a week, including East End Park & Richmond Hill, Leeds Dock, Hunslet & Stourton, and Headingley, according to the government's interactive map.

Government figures also show that the infection rate of Leeds in the seven days to November 15 plummeted from 446.5 to 418.3. 3,318 new cases were diagnosed in the same period.

The prime minister Boris Johnson is preparing to unveil a Covid Winter Plan on Monday, setting out the next phase of the government’s coronavirus response.

Boris Johnson will confirm national restrictions will end on December 2 and set out how England will move back into a three-tiered, regional set of restrictions.

Whilst some local measures will be similar to those in place previously, the tiers will also be strengthened in some areas in order to safeguard the gains made during the period of national restrictions.
