‘The $10,000 belt-fed beast’: Logic dodger Marjorie Taylor Greene is hosting a rifle giveaway to, like, make America safer

Just when Marjorie Taylor Greene started talking some sense, on August 5, 2025, she posted a late-night cable-style infomercial on X, announcing she’s giving away her “$10,000 belt-fed beast” — an M249 SAW Para gun — because … trans people, or something.

Amid widespread speculation that Greene had grown disillusioned with MAGA, the Georgia Rep. announced the gun giveaway for America’s 250th anniversary. In the clip featuring canned hard rock music like a cheap car dealership ad, she seemed to say she’s as MAGA as ever, fighting against “America last Democrats,” “the trans agenda,” “open borders,” and “reckless government spending on her DOGE subcommittee.” All the while, Greene blasts targets from the back of what looks like a jeep with the old Stars and Bars on the tailgate.

MGT reaffirms her MAGA credentials

Most notably, though, after comments in the press and on social media criticizing Trump and the GOP, Greene seemed to reaffirm her fealty, stating, “American elected Donald Trump and now I’m working by his side to make America great again.” Which, according to Greene, in her vulgar display of America’s worst tendencies, means more big guns on the street, because an M249 SAW Para gun — meant for airborne, armored, and close-quarters combat — is just what this country needs to stay safe, Greene suggests.

This was noted in the comment section. One said, “Marge offering potential mass murderers a weapon of mass destruction for free. Seems on point.” Another added, “What in the world? While it is one of my favorite weapons I used in the military, why would any civilian need to create suppressive fire in a situation outside of war? This is insanely irresponsible even for show.”

Several comments noted that SAW Para guns cost thousands of dollars, which is quite an expense for Greene’s congressional salary. Others urged Greene to stay focused on Epstein, and many criticized making guns “fashionable.”

As one comment put it, “Guns should never be made fashionable, as they are in some countries. Not with our youth already struggling to secure their economic independence. Most cannot afford to leave home, stuck hanging out with one another, being tempted to experiment with substances. Guns don’t mix!”

One other comment questioned the legality of the giveaway under FEC regulations. It explained, “FEC regulations prohibit campaigns from conducting lotteries or raffles where participation is conditioned on a contribution, as this could be considered an illegal inducement.”

It added, “According to FEC guidance, offering prizes or chances to win items of significant value in exchange for donations can violate 52 U.S.C. § 30116, which governs contribution limits and prohibitions. M249S PARA giveaway, explicitly tied to making a contribution, resembles a raffle, which could be problematic unless structured carefully to comply with FEC rules.”
