The £1.49 cleaning hack that will leave your toilet totally spotless

A woman who was tackling a stained toilet has shared the cleaning hack that got it looking spotless again.

Instead of spending a fortune on fancy cleaning fluids she popped to the pharmacy and spent £1.49 on a pumice stone.

She posted the tip on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK , saying the tip causes no damage or scratches.

More than 5,000 people have 'liked' the hack and the post has had at least a thousand comments.

It came as a woman complained she'd had no luck with cleaning her toilets - despite trying everything.

But then she heard some advice on a podcast which she decided to take,  the Daily Star reports.

Posting before and after pictures of her toilet, she wrote: "Since moving into my new house a year and half ago the toilets in the house have always annoyed me.

"I’m guessing the people before didn’t clean the toilets much! I had tried everything, scrubbing, bleach. So for months I’ve had those loo things that coloured the water, but I could still see it.

"Recently I’ve been pricing up new toilets, plumbers and new floors, because the state of the loos just had to change.

"Then last week while listening to Jenny Eclair and Judith Holders, Older and Wider podcast with Aggie McKenzie they were talking about removing limescale from the toilet.

"A pumice stone! It doesn’t scratch or damage.

"£1.49 from my local pharmacy has saved me hundreds of pounds! You’re welcome."

She said the pummice stone is used to scrub the toilet clean while wearing gloves.
