Thaworn wins by five shots in Nakhon Nayok

Thaworn Wiratchant, second right, receives the winner's trophy.

Nakhon Nayok: Thaworn Wiratchant comfortably won the second event of the season on the Thailand Champions Tour yesterday.

Thaworn shot a six-under-par 66 in the final round for a three-day total of 203 to win by five strokes at the Royal Hills Golf Resort and Spa.

He defeated Boonchu Ruangkit who hit a 68 for 208 and received 120,000 baht in prize money.

Pakistan's Nadeem Inayat came in third following a 72 for 212.

It is Thaworn's second triumph in as many tournaments on the country's senior circuit this year.

"I am happy to win this tournament," Thaworn said.

"My approach shots and putting were good. Boonchu played well but I had a big lead so I won with ease."

Thaworn will next play at the Sumaiida Cup senior tournament in Japan next week when compatriot Prayad Marksaeng will defend the title.

The next event on the Thailand Champions Tour will be at Panorama Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima from June 27-27.
