Thawintorn takes helm in Korat

Mr Thawintorn began his career in hospitality with Centara Hotels & Resorts in 2006.

Centara Hotel Korat has appointed Thawintorn Kanungkid as general manager to lead the group's debut hotel in the northeastern province, which is set to open in the third quarter of 2022.

Mr Thawintorn brings two decades of experience in the hospitality industry to the position, most recently as resident manager at The Sukosol Bangkok Hotel where for five years he managed day-to-day operations for the hotel, as well as supporting the hotel's F&B and sales & marketing teams.

He first joined the hospitality business as part of the front office team at Centara in 2006 and returned to the company in 2013 in the role of rooms division manager in the pre-opening team of one of Centara's Pattaya properties.

David Good, executive vice-president of hotel operations at Centara Hotels & Resorts, said the firm is delighted to welcome back Mr Thawintorn.

"We welcome back Thawintorn to the Centara family to helm our first hotel in Korat. With his reputation for excellence and knowledgeability of both operations and revenue generation, we are confident he will succeed in establishing Centara Korat as the new place to be in the region," he said.

Scheduled to open in September 2022, Centara Hotel Korat is ideal for business, family, or leisure travellers.

The hotel offers 218 rooms and suites, and some rooms are equipped with kitchenettes for long-stay guests. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options, including a signature rooftop restaurant and bar.

The hotel is integrated with CentralPlaza Nakhon Ratchasima, so guests will also have access to a shopping centre, an outdoor lifestyle market and a park.

Over the past two years, Centara has introduced its unique brand of Thai-style hospitality to new destinations in Thailand and the Middle East.

More expansion is planned as the company intends to double the properties in its portfolio with new hotels and resorts in the pipeline in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, the Maldives, Qatar, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
