Thatchers has launched an alcohol-free cider for Dry January

Cidermakers Thatchers are now selling an alcohol-free cider in time for Dry January

Thatchers Zero is being launched this week to bring fans the taste of North Somerset’s finest cider, but without the alcohol or hangover.

The description of the cider says it has a ‘beautifully bright, golden appearance, crisp, medium dry taste, and fruity aroma’, and will appeal to those ‘looking to moderate their alcohol consumption’.

It’s on sale from today (January 8), in the Thatcher’s Farm Shop at Myrtle Farm, and at the Railway Inn, the Thatcher's pub in Sandford, and Bristol retailers will be getting their first batch by the end of this week, or the start of next.

Thatchers said the Zero brand has ‘all the appley aromas and crisp refreshment expected from the master cidermakers at Myrtle Farm’.

“We’ve taken a lot of time and care in the production of Zero,” says Martin Thatcher, managing director and fourth generation cidermaker, reports BristolLive .

“Created to be full of taste from the start, this is a no-alcohol cider that meets the growing consumer expectation for moderation, but just as importantly offers great character and is something special and enjoyable to drink.

“It offers the premium experience people are looking for when choosing an alcohol-free alternative,” he added.

Thatchers’ head of brands, Yvonne Flannery, said they wanted to make a zero alcohol cider that was more than just fizzy apple juice.

“Gone are the days when drinkers will compromise on quality,” she said.

“As an increasing number of people are looking to moderate their alcohol intake as part of a mindful lifestyle, consumers can now opt for Thatchers Zero and not feel they’re missing out on a really enjoyable glass of cider,” she added.
