NEW DELHI: Mohammad Kaif spoke his heart out while praising rising India star Yashasvi Jaiswal's quick adaptability according to the format of the game as the former Indian batter stressed upon the fact that is what batters have to do in the future to meet the high demands of the game.
Chasing a tricky 179 in the must-win game against West Indies, Jaiswal (84* off just 51 balls) and Shubman Gill (77 off 47 balls) came out all guns blazing as the opening duo added 66 runs in the powerplay and powered India to a series-levelling nine-wicket victory in the fourth T20I.
Lauding Jaiswal's great temperament, who quickly changed his gears and adapted quite well in the shortest format of the game after getting out on 1 in his debut innings in the third T20I, Kaif posted a heartfelt note on X, earlier known as Twitter.
"Yashasvi Jaiswal's strength is his ability to change gears according to format. That's what batsmen have to do in future. Adaptability with great temperament brings success."
Jaiswal and Gill added 165 runs for the opening wicket, which is now the joint highest opening partnership for India in T20Is.
21-year-old Jaiswal, who registered his maiden T20I fifty in the impressive chase, also became the fourth youngest Indian to score a half-century in the shortest format.
Jaiswal, who was adjudged man of the match for his whirlwind knock studded with 11 fours and three sixes, admitted that performing at the highest level is not easy but he loves to cash in on the opportunities that comes his way.
